Evergreen Colorado Real Estate

Evergreen is one of the gem cities in Colorado.  Evergreen Colorado Real Estate is especially appealing to those thinking of moving near to Denver but who just don't want to move into a big city place. It lies just West of Denver just off of  I-70 Highway, a major East-West US Highway.  Evergreen was settled long before there were "White" men as the Arapahoe and Ute Indians (Native Americans) called this area their home.  As the Gold Rush hit Colorado and Denver began to boom, Evergreen was settled by some of the those early miners.  The downtown area of Evergreen has an old West sort of feel to it to this day.

As the automobile became a major mode of transportation, Evergreen real estate became an option for those wishing to get away to the mountains.  There are many famous people that called Evergreen home and many a movie star visited or took up residence here.  There is a famous stretch of road called Upper Bear Creek Road that has some impressive houses.  One area on Upper Bear Creek that was well known in the early 20's and 30's was the world famous Troutdale-in-the_pines Hotel.

Evergreen’s most famous resort began as a rustic fishing resort in 1884 long before there was much of a real estate market to speak of.. A change of owners around 1917 transformed the lodge into a luxury resort for the rich and famous during the ‘20s and ‘30s and included guests like Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Mary Pickford, Ethel Merman, Liberace, and Jack Benny. Tommy Dorsey, Lawrence Welk, and Woody Herman entertained guests at the “little gem in the Rockies.”  Among other amenities. Troutdale featured a casino, heated outdoor swimming pool and a 40 by 80 foot glass enclosed ballroom. World War II and the need to ration gas meant people couldn’t travel to the mountains as much, signaling the end of the resort era which had also included the Brook Forest Inn.  The resort was demolished in the 1990's to make way for a new housing development named of course - Troutdale-in-the-Pines.

Evergreen also boasts many great restaurants including the locally (and even beyond) famous "The Bistro".  The Bistro is a step back in time as it is housed in a charming restored 1920's built old Boy's Home.  There is a beautiful moss rock fireplace and usually musical accompanies your meal.  New owners just took over The Bistro in late 2007 but the cuisine is better than ever.

There are so many additional reasons that make real estate in Evergreen Colorado appealing but those are just a few.
