Conifer Colorado is an amazingly beautiful place.  Situated about 7500-10,000 feet above sea level, there is a very alps-like feel.  But the mountains are smoother than what one would find in the European Alps (which signifies that they are in fact older than our European friends).  Conifer is a quiet town that is growing with each and every passing year.  It once had a single small grocery store in Aspen Park yet now boasts one of the largest Safeway's in the country.

Schools in Conifer are still small compared to national averages but Conifer High School must be one of the most picturesque High Schools in the entire country.  The student to teacher ratios are also below national averages and people that move here tend to feel that the schools almost feel like they are private when compared to the big city environments many of our residents moved from.

There are many activities to keep you busy and in shape year round.  While the winters are a bit longer here than they are in Denver, the sun we get here keeps one from feeling "trapped" by Winter.   There is local sledding hill in Myer's Park that attracts kids by the hundreds on good snow days (including those rare no school days because of snow).  Breckenridge is only 1 and 20 minutes away via Highway 285 and then I-9 which enables us to avoid the horrific I-70 weekend traffic (these are the kind of things you need to know when you want to ski on the weekends).  With a plethora of city and state parks (more than any other state in the nation) there are plenty of places to go snow shoeing which is one the best cardiovascular exercises one can do.  Of course those parks transform in the spring and summer and are great for hiking and mountain biking.  There is also a world famous mountain climbing area in Sphinx Park in Pine Colorado.

Another great aspect to life in Conifer is the easy access to the "big" city of Denver.  While many like the getaway feeling that Conifer affords, the ability to still dwell amongst the city folk is still important and easily achievable with the major highway 285 (known as Hampden Blvd in the Denver metro area).  This highway was once only a 2 lane path that would easily get clogged up with the most minor of accidents or snow falls but today allows for a quick commute "down the hill".
