bergenpark
Bergen Park Colorado is another area near to Evergreen Colorado real estate. This area was originally founded by Thomas Cunningham Bergen in 1859.
Upon arriving in Elk Park in 1859, Thomas Cunningham Bergen “resolved then and
there to own it.” Abandoning his dream of a rich gold strike, Bergen settled
here instead and gave the site its present name. He built a roadhouse in 1860
and it remained a well-known stop among westbound travelers until the 1870s,
when railroads drew off the trail traffic. Bergen departed, and a few scattered
ranchers had Bergen Park to themselves until 1913, when the City of Denver
absorbed the area into its mountain parks system. Bergen Park again became a
popular travel stop, this time serving Denver day-trippers—many of whom resolved
to own their piece of the rustic retreat. As roads improved and automobile
speeds increased after World War II, Bergen Park became increasingly popular as
a commuter suburb—and a harbinger of metropolitan Denver’s
late-twentieth-century sprawl.
This area is known for it's very easy commute to Denver as it sits very close to Interstate I-70. If you are considering Evergreen real estate and want an established area known for community and ease of commute then Bergen Park may be for you.
